Playground Games, the Royal Leamington Spa-based studio behind the Forza Horizon series, has confirmed that the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 remains on track for a 2026 release.
The announcement, made on 7 September 2026, directly refutes recent industry reports which suggested the high-profile racing title had been pushed back to early 2027. While a specific calendar date for the PlayStation debut has yet to be disclosed, the developer stated in an official blog post that the port is still scheduled to arrive before the end of the year.
Forza Horizon 6 originally launched for Xbox Series X|S and PC on 19 May 2026. The upcoming PlayStation 5 release marks a significant expansion for the franchise, following a period of timed exclusivity on Microsoft platforms.
The confirmation of the 2026 window comes as the game is made available for “wishlisting” on the official PlayStation Store, allowing console owners to receive notifications as soon as a firm launch date or pre-order details are announced.
New content and ‘British Automotive’ update
Alongside the release update, Playground Games has launched the “British Automotive” series for existing players on Xbox and PC. The “Series 5” update, which went live on 7 September, introduces a new permanent gameplay feature.
The update brings the “Drift Attack” mode to the game’s open-world map. This feature challenges players to maintain high-speed slides through designated zones to earn scores and rewards.
