Artist Daren creates Christmas tree from hair stylers

ARTIST Daren Terry reckons he had a merry old time creating a Christmas tree made entirely from GHD stylers and hairdryers.

And it seems Daren’s clients at the hair salon he runs with wife Kate think so to after one made a cheeky bid for the installation that has been christened the “GHTree”.

Daren spent two days and used 350 pieces of GHD equipment to make the iconic tree, which will feature in his salon, Lotus Styling, in Aldwick Road, Bognor Regis.

And after receiving a request to purchase the creation, Daren says he is considering what to do with his piece once the festive celebrations have been and gone.

He said:

“I had a basic idea of what I wanted lot do and spoke to the kind folk at GHD who sent me lots of stylers and hair dryers to let me get on with it.”

“But I had no idea it would turn out quite how it has and we are delighted with how impactful it is to the eye. The GHTree has already attracted an offer from someone but we are keeping it for the time being. We may well auction it for charity.”

“It is very, very heavy and took me the best part of two days to complete. Overall I am very pleased with the GHTree.”

Daren got creative to bring a touch of Yule good will to his salon to raise awareness of a Peter Pan panto ticket giveaway.

He added:

“We’re thrilled that our son Kai is in Peter Pan at the Chichester Festival Theatre and we are giving away three pairs of tickets to the show. We’ll announce the competition shortly.”

Meanwhile, Daren has revealed the Lotus Styling shop front is about to get a festive makeover.

“Everyone seems to have loved our window displays over the years and we are working on a fab new version which will be installed very soon,”

he added.
