Pre-orders for the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 have sold out across major UK retailers within hours of launching, leading to a surge of high-priced listings on secondary marketplaces. While the official retail price is set at £434.99, scalpers are already listing the limited-edition hardware on eBay UK for sums ranging between £700 and £850.
The console, which was revealed following a Nintendo Direct earlier this month, features bespoke Triforce-patterned Joy-Cons and gold accents to commemorate the long-running franchise. Despite the initial exhaustion of stock at the My Nintendo Store and major third-party retailers, Nintendo has issued a statement to reassure fans that more units are on the way.
Official pricing and release dates
The significant gap between the official RRP and resale prices has prompted warnings for consumers to wait for official restocks. The hardware is not scheduled for release until 29 October 2026, meaning any listings claiming immediate delivery are inaccurate.
Nintendo has confirmed that stock for the 40th Anniversary Collection will be “replenished” following the initial sell-out. The company is directing customers to use the My Nintendo Store app to receive exclusive notifications when new batches of the console become available for pre-order.
The console launch is timed to precede the release of the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake, which is scheduled to arrive on 5 November 2026.
