A jury at Brighton Crown Court has heard details regarding a shooting at a pub.
The incident was allegedly motivated by a feeling of “disrespect” after the two defendants had been drinking at the venue earlier that evening.
Carlos Cassidy, 46, and Memis Kalmis, 44, have both pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Prosecutor Gareth Burrows told the court that the shooting targeted the premises.
Differing accounts
The trial, which opened on 23 September 2026, heard the opening of the prosecution’s case.
According to a report by Brighton and Hove News, the prosecution’s case is that the defendants felt slighted while drinking at the pub earlier that night and returned to carry out the shooting as a result.
The trial at Brighton Crown Court is ongoing and is expected to continue throughout the week.
