The second series of Celebrity Traitors made a dramatic return to screens on Thursday 1 October 2026, featuring a theatrical entrance from host Claudia Winkleman and a high-stakes cliffhanger that left two contestants facing an uncertain future in the Scottish Highlands.
Filmed at Ardross Castle, the premiere introduced 21 celebrities competing to win a prize fund of up to £100,000 for their chosen charities. Among the star-studded line-up is Crawley-born comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who joins fellow celebrities including James Blunt and Ross Kemp in the quest to identify the Traitors hidden among them.
The episode began with an entrance fans have dubbed “Claudiapatra,” as Winkleman arrived at the castle carried on a palanquin by a group of men, reminiscent of the Egyptian queen. The theatricality set the tone for an episode defined by immediate suspicion and secret selections.

The first Traitors revealed
During the first round-table meeting, Winkleman selected the individuals who would work in secret to “murder” their fellow contestants. Presenter Maya Jama and actor Richard E. Grant were revealed as the first two Traitors of the series. Their selection puts them in control of the game’s nightly eliminations, provided they can avoid detection by the “Faithful” majority.
The group’s first major mission proved successful, with the contestants working together to add £15,000 to the charity prize fund. However, the initial camaraderie was short-lived as the reality of the game took hold.
According to the full series line-up, the diverse cast includes athletes, presenters, and actors, all of whom are now under pressure to secure the jackpot for their respective causes.
Coffin cliffhanger
The premiere ended on a tense note, departing from the usual “murder” format for the opening night. Instead of a standard elimination, contestants Amol Rajan and James Acaster were led to a chapel where they were instructed to lie in coffins.
The cliffhanger left viewers questioning whether one of the two would be “murdered” immediately, or if the Traitors would be required to recruit one of them into their ranks. The resolution is set to be revealed in the second episode, which airs on Friday 2 October 2026.
Viewers can watch the series on BBC One at 9pm, with all episodes available for streaming on iPlayer. For fans seeking further analysis, the companion show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble, provides behind-the-scenes insights and interviews with the departed contestants.
