A major new tactical shooter from Derby-based developer Bulkhead has recorded a significant launch for a UK-produced video game following its release.

The game, titled Wardogs, launched into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026 and quickly climbed the global charts. This surge in interest led to brief periods of server congestion, which the developers have addressed with a series of initial hotfixes.

The performance marks a significant milestone for the East Midlands studio. Bulkhead, which developed the game using Unreal Engine 5, underwent a corporate restructuring in late 2025.

The game reached a peak of more than 350,000 concurrent players on the platform.

Wardogs is built around a “cash is king” gameplay mechanic. To mark the launch, the studio has been engaging with the community during the opening weeks.

Pricing and platform availability

The game is currently available exclusively for PC via Steam. In the UK, the standard edition is priced at £36.99. While the developer has confirmed that versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are in development, console players are expected to wait until 2028 for a full release.

The studio has indicated that the Early Access period will be used to refine gameplay balance and technical stability based on player feedback before the game moves to a full commercial launch.

There is currently no confirmation of whether the price will increase when the game eventually leaves Early Access. For now, the developers remain focused on maintaining server capacity to accommodate the volume of active players.
