A man has shared a harrowing account of a targeted “crypto heist” in which a masked gang assaulted him with hammers and threatened to kill his pregnant wife.
The robbery, which took place in the Smith’s Wood area of Solihull, West Midlands, saw the victims forced to surrender hundreds of thousands of pounds in digital currency.
The incident occurred at around 5.20pm on Saturday, 13 December 2025. While the attack happened nearly a year ago, the victim has recently provided new testimony regarding the brutality of the ordeal.
Threats to pregnant wife
According to the victim’s account, three masked men entered the property while he and his pregnant wife were at home. During the invasion, one of the offenders used a pillow to suffocate the woman while threatening to stab her in the stomach and kill their unborn baby.
The attackers were reportedly armed with hammers and used them to assault the man as they demanded access to his cryptocurrency accounts.
The heist appeared to be highly coordinated. While three men carried out the physical assault inside the home, they were being directed by a fourth offender via a video call. This individual provided instructions to the gang throughout the duration of the robbery.
Assets stolen and suspects sought
Under the threat of further violence, the victims were forced to transfer hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cryptocurrency. In addition to the digital assets, the gang also took several Rolex watches before fleeing the scene.
West Midlands Police are leading the investigation into the gang, but no convictions have yet been made. Crimestoppers has maintained a £10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Detailed descriptions of the suspects have been released in an effort to identify the gang. One of the men is described as a black male with a distinctive small diagonal scar located beneath his left eyebrow.
