Tennis fans hoping to attend the landmark 150th anniversary of The Championships at Wimbledon in 2027 must now look to alternative routes, as the official public ballot has officially closed.
The window for the main public ballot shut at 23:59 BST on Monday 14 September 2026. This ballot remains the primary method for fans to secure tickets at face value for the show courts, but the high demand for the 2027 tournament — marking 150 years since the inaugural event in 1877 — means many will now be turning to secondary official channels.
The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has confirmed that the tournament is scheduled to run from Monday 28 June to Sunday 11 July 2027.
When will ballot results be announced?
Applicants who entered the public ballot will not have to wait long to discover their fate. The AELTC is expected to begin notifying successful entrants by email from October 2026.
Tickets are non-transferable and must be paid for within a specific timeframe once the offer is made. It is also important to note that the LTA Advantage ballot, which provides an alternative route for club members and registered fans, closed earlier on 31 August 2026.
How to get tickets now the ballot is closed
While the ballot is the most common way to attend, several legitimate avenues remain for those who missed the deadline or are unsuccessful in the draw.
1. The Queue
Wimbledon remains one of the few major sporting events where fans can buy premium tickets on the day of play. Each day, approximately 500 tickets are reserved for Centre Court, No.1 Court, and No.2 Court (except for the final four days on Centre Court). These are sold to those at the front of the famous Queue. Thousands of additional Grounds Passes are also available daily, offering access to the unreserved seating on outside courts.
2. Official Hospitality
For those with a larger budget, Keith Prowse is the exclusive official hospitality partner for the tournament. Packages for 2027 are already on sale, offering guaranteed seats alongside fine dining. These packages are popular for corporate bookings and milestone celebrations.
3. Official Face-Value Resale
During the tournament, fans already inside the grounds can purchase tickets for show courts that have been returned by visitors leaving early. These are sold for a fraction of the original price, with the proceeds going to the Wimbledon Foundation. Additionally, an official online resale platform typically operates for ballot winners who can no longer attend, allowing other registered fans to purchase these tickets at face value.
4. Debentures
Debenture tickets are the only Wimbledon tickets that can be legally transferred or sold on the open market. These are often handled by specialist secondary agencies. While they offer some of the best views in the house, they command a significant premium over standard ballot prices.
