The Olivier Award-winning revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods is set to return to London this month for a strictly limited West End season.
The production, which originated at the Bridge Theatre in 2025, will transfer to the Noël Coward Theatre with performances running from 22 September 2026 to 9 January 2027. The staging arrived in the West End following significant critical acclaim, having secured the 2026 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
The production is directed by Jordan Fein.
The West End transfer sees Kate Fleetwood reprise her acclaimed role as the Witch. Joining the company for the Noël Coward Theatre run are John Dagleish and Laura Pitt-Pulford. The production features set and costume design by Tom Scutt, with an official opening night scheduled for 7 October 2026.
While Into the Woods prepares for its return, the future of another major Sondheim revival remains uncertain. A planned production of Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican, intended for Summer 2027, is currently in question. Industry reports indicate the project is in jeopardy following the high-profile departures of its intended leads, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey.
