Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day confirmed for Xbox Game Pass

has announced several high-profile additions to its subscription service.

Microsoft has confirmed the second major update for Xbox Game Pass in September 2026, introducing a selection of new titles and trial versions across console and PC. The schedule, announced on 15 September, includes several “Day One” releases and the inclusion of high-profile franchises such as Gears of War and Minecraft.

The rollout began on 16 September with the addition of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Planet of Lana 2, Routine, and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon. Of these, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is restricted to the Game Pass Premium and Ultimate tiers, while the other titles are available across standard subscriptions.

Football fans can also access an early access trial for EA Sports FC 27 starting from 18 September. This 10-hour trial is available via EA Play, which is included for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.

Late September and October additions

The latter half of the month is dominated by the arrival of Dune: Awakening on 22 September. The console version of the open-world survival game includes a dedicated single-player campaign that was not part of its initial launch on PC. On Xbox Series X, the title is confirmed to support a 60 FPS performance mode.

Following this, Minecraft Dungeons 2 is scheduled to join the service on 29 September. Despite some conflicting reports regarding the date, official documentation from Xbox Wire has confirmed the 29 September release for all subscribers.

Looking slightly further ahead, the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day will arrive as a Day One release on 6 October 2026. This title is being included in the September announcement cycle as part of the service’s autumn roadmap.

Updated tier structure

The releases follow Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its subscription levels. The service is now divided into Essential, Premium, Ultimate, and PC plans. While the Essential tier provides access to a core library and online multiplayer, Premium and Ultimate tiers are required for certain high-end additions and “Day One” blockbusters.
