Marvel’s Wolverine sales reach 1.9m with strong physical demand in the UK

Marvel’s Wolverine has generated an estimated $130 million in revenue during its opening days on sale, according to tracking data from Alinea Analytics. The figures suggest a resilient commercial performance for the PlayStation 5 exclusive, which launched on 15 September 2026 amid a divisive critical reception.

The United Kingdom has emerged as the game’s second-largest market globally, accounting for approximately 7% of the total player base. This puts the UK behind only the United States in terms of player volume, underscoring the significant demand for the title among British consumers despite mixed discourse on social media and gaming forums.

The game’s financial trajectory is being closely watched. While Sony and developer Insomniac Games have yet to release official internal sales figures, the estimated revenue indicates that the title is performing strongly compared to other major releases this year. However, industry analysts suggest the game may require roughly 5 million sales to reach a break-even point, given the high production costs associated with modern AAA superhero titles.

Critical reception and technical updates

The game currently holds a “generally favourable” score of 77/100 on the review aggregator Metacritic. While positive, this is notably lower than the scores achieved by Insomniac’s previous Marvel titles, such as 2023’s Spider-Man 2. Much of the criticism from players and reviewers focused on specific gameplay mechanics and navigation interfaces.

In response to this feedback, Insomniac Games released a significant update on 19 September 2026. The patch specifically targets the “scent trail” mechanic—a visual aid used for tracking enemies and objectives—which had been a primary source of complaint among the player base. According to GameSpew, the update aims to streamline the user interface and address common navigation issues identified during the launch weekend.

At present, the game remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive. There has been no official confirmation regarding a potential PC port, though previous Insomniac titles have typically made the transition to Windows approximately two years after their initial console debut.
