Fans of the long-running vampire-hunting franchise have a firm date for their diaries as Konami prepares for the “spooky season”. A free playable demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled for release on 1 October 2026, ahead of the full game’s launch later that month.
Development is being led by Evil Empire—the studio previously responsible for five years of content on the acclaimed Dead Cells—with original Dead Cells creator Motion Twin serving in an advisory capacity.
Paris, 1499
Departing from the usual Transylvanian backdrop, the new entry is set in Paris in 1499. Players will take control of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Castlevania III protagonists Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, as she navigates the French capital during a supernatural crisis.
The upcoming demo will allow players to experience the entirety of the game’s first chapter. For those planning to transition to the full release, save data from the demo can be transferred over. However, this transfer is only possible if playing on the same platform and account; cross-platform save transfers are not supported.
Technical requirements for the demo vary across consoles and computer systems. Players will need to ensure they have sufficient storage space available before downloading:
