The five-part celebrity spin-off of The Great Pottery Throw Down returned to Channel 4 on Sunday 13 September, bringing a fresh group of famous faces to the wheel at the Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent.
A significant change to the competition format has been introduced for the 2026 celebrity series. Unlike the standard amateur version, there are no weekly eliminations. Instead, the celebrities will compete across the entire five-episode run, with a points-based leaderboard determining who will reach the grand final.
The 2026 celebrity line-up
The series features six celebrities from the worlds of comedy, sport, and stage. The full line-up includes:
- Lucy Beaumont: Comedian and actor.
- Fatiha El-Ghorri: Stand-up comedian.
- Richard Herring: Comedian and podcaster.
- Paul Merson: Former professional footballer and pundit.
- Layton Williams: Actor and dancer.
- Denise Van Outen: TV presenter and actor.
The opening episode challenged the contestants to create their own breakfast sets and take part in a timed “throw down” to produce the highest number of toothbrush holders. Paul Merson’s first entry, a breakfast set, was personal in nature, drawing inspiration from his journey through addiction recovery.
According to The Guardian, the series highlights several personal stories from the cast. Comedian Richard Herring has recently disclosed he is being treated for hairy cell leukaemia.
Production and broadcast details
The celebrity edition is filmed at the historic Gladstone Pottery Museum in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Episodes air weekly on Sundays at 7:45pm on Channel 4. Viewers can also watch the series via the Channel 4 streaming service.
