Saber Interactive adds AI disclosure to Steam following dispute with former staff

Saber Interactive has updated its project transparency after a summer of controversy involving generative artificial intelligence and public disputes between leadership and former staff.

While attending the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 addressed its current approach to public relations. The developer has faced significant industry scrutiny following a dispute involving former lead writer Stella Sacco, who claimed she was dismissed and replaced by ChatGPT during the development of the title Rideshare Stimulator in December 2023.

The studio has taken steps to formalise its use of the technology in specific projects. Saber Interactive has now added a generative AI disclosure to the Steam store page for Rideshare Stimulator, in line with platform policies.

According to reports from PC Gamer, Saber Interactive has added an AI disclaimer to the Steam page for ‘Rideshare Stimulator’.

The studio’s actions come as it navigates the complex legal and ethical landscape of AI integration in game design. Consumers can now see AI disclosures on affected Saber Interactive titles on the Steam platform, providing greater transparency regarding which elements of a game were produced using automated tools.
