Sweet FA for Rocks as Howell targets more cup success

Bognor boss Jamie Howell has challenged his side to bring more cup glory to the town.

Howell’s Rocks enjoyed a memorable run in the FA Trophy last season, eventually falling short over two legs to now Football League side, Grimsby Town. It was a run that really got the town dreaming of a walk down the famous Wembley Way.

With Bognor visiting high flying Slough on Saturday, Rocks’ boss Jamie Howell was quick to remind his men that last season’s fairytale is firmly a thing of the past.

He said:

“What we achieved in this competition last season was incredible but it starts from fresh now.”

“From last year’s team, a lot of changes have been made and we know it’s going to be tough to emulate what we did last season.”

Howell will have his hands tied in terms of selection for Saturday’s match as his injury list and frustrations continue to grow. Gary Charman broke his foot in the weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Lowestoft and he now faces a two to three month spell on the sidelines.

Charman joins Dan Beck, Alex Parsons, Jimmy Wild, Jimmy Muitt, Calvin Davies and James Fraser on the sidelines and Howell admits that it is proving to be a testing period.

“When it rains it pours and we have so many injuries at the minute. At Lowestoft on Saturday we were missing five or six, which was really frustrating.”

“I’m trying to get a team out but our injury list at the moment is quite large and it has been tough.”

added Howell.
