A FORMER Bognor Regis teacher who died this week has been remembered with an emotional outpouring of love and respect.
We told yesterday how touching tributes flowed after Dave Bolland, well-known as a teacher at Nyewood Junior School in Brent Road, and as a leading light in local football circles, passed away.
And since the news filtered through social media, more people touched by his kindness have come forward to place on record their tributes and memories.
Well-know plumber Kevin Welling touched the hearts of many with his recollection of one particular `act of kindness that seemed to sum up Dave’s approach to those who he came across.
Kevin took to Facebook to write:
“Lot of mentions on here about Dave Bolland and what a top bloke he was On a personal level will never forget when Nyewood were off to the Isle of Wight in year 5 the night before they were due to leave Charlie Welling became unwell and I phoned Dave and told him, he delayed the leave time in the morning so I had time to get him down the doctors for a check up.”
“Unfortunately the doctor said he couldn’t go on the trip which was all the more painful as Chas watched them all leave as we lived right next door to the playground I was gutted as was chas and indeed his mates After couple days he was ok and Dave rang me to see how he was and came back on the ferry to Pompey and I met him with chas and he took him on the trip,wonderful gesture and and kind thing to do.”
The story provoked a tearful reaction. Kaye Potter replied:
“That’s made me cry, such a kind thing to do. You don’t meet many people in this world who go above and beyond. RIP Dave.”
