Puffed out! Alex quits fags to train for London marathon and raise charity cash

Marathon man Alex Tonks reckons life is a drag at the moment…but that’s fine by him.

For the Bognor runner has quit cigarettes to get in the best shape possible to run the London marathon on April 23 and raise money for charity.

Bognorian Alex hopes to be able to donate £3,000 to the Snowdrop Trust — who provide home care for very ill children to enable them to live life to the full — through sponsorship of his pavement-pounding efforts.

He says he was inspired by the amazing challenge completed by the fancy dress-clad Bognor superheroes who took part in the Pink Pub to Paris bike ride.

He told So Bognor:

“I saw what the chaps did and decided I wanted to get involved somehow. Running is something I’ve always enjoyed and I believe this is the best way to push myself whilst raising money for a great cause.”

“I have never done anything like this before and I’m relishing the challenge, I have ditched the cigarettes and training is in full swing!”

“Please give what you can and help me reach my target for this amazing local charity that helps so many families each year. Thank you.”
