Hair salon fundraisers Daren and Kate Terry get the chance to think pink one more time tomorrow (Tuesday) when they are whisked to London by way of a celebration for all their efforts helping a breast cancer charity.
The husband and wife team, who run the town’s popular Lotus Styling salon in Aldwick Road, travel to the capital’s swish Berkeley hotel with their young stylist Rhiannon Hambleton for a Ghd pink presentation ceremony and lunch.
Lotus Styling staff won the plaudit after being chosen from all of the salons in the south who took part in the fundraising campaign following a collection of £1,200 in just a month.
After dining, the Lotus Styling party will head for Institute of Cancer Research before a presentation from Breast Cancer Now, a tour of the ICR laboratories, and then an enjoy an informal get-together with various competition winners and dignitaries.
Daren said: “We are honoured to have been named as a top fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now as part of GHD’s Electric Pink Campaign. We are very much looking forward to the day and we are delighted to be chosen. We did a raffle to see who came with us from our staff and Rhiannon won; but the event is a really big ‘thank-you’ to all of our team and those clients who gave so generously.
“We had special t-shirts printed and mugs, too, and everyone got in the spirit and helped us so much.”
And it is a double celebration for Rhiannon, who has been selected as a finalist in the National Hairdressers Federation Incredibles competition Future Generations category. She will be attending the HOB Academy, London, with Akin Konizi, who was British Haidresser of the Year 2013, in next month.
Ghd has raised around £9million for breast cancer charities across the globe over the last 12 years with their annual pink limited editions. This year they want to raise that number to £10million by donating money from every electric pink purchase to breast cancer charities.
