Bognorphenia is back. And organiser Kez Bridger is hopeful that the jam-packed entertainment and community event will be bigger and better than ever.
Community leader Kez and her team of volunteers are putting the finishing touches to a full-on weekend of events planned for the end of the month.
The fifth Bognorphenia annual event takes place on the April 28th, 29th and 30th and aims to support the community, young people, children and families.
The band The Feel kick off proceedings at the Waverley (7.30pm until midnight, with DJ sets, £2.50 on the door) on the Friday, the day before the Our Generation Young People Day.

And it is one which the organisers are getting very excited about. Kez said: “This event is all about the next generation and will feature young musicians and DJs and rapping, as well as a chance for youngsters who are perhaps lacking self-confidence to take part in sessions with Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Surrey and Sussex
“Matt was bullied himself at school and so f got into martial arts and ended up as a bodyguard for Michael Jackson. The martial arts sessions can give youngsters confidence in themselves where they might be lacking.
“There will alsso Be stalls, refreshments and lots of activities and everyone is welcome; even the young at heart people – and it is free entry and it will be a whole lot of fun.”
The main event is on the Sunday, again in Hotham Park, and sees an ecletic mix of musicians performing from 10am until 6pm. Tap your feet to 75 members of the Rock Choir singing their hearts out; get rockin’ with hugely popular Ruby & The Revelators or enjoy some nostalgic hits from Dawn Gracie.
Then there is a midnight after-show party from 7.30pm at Newtown Social Club which features live music from Bootleg Blondie and DJ sets from Nic Dunnaway, Adrian Hunt and Jeff Farrent. Go to www.bognorphenia.org.uk for tickets, which are £5 in advance.
Kez and the team of volunteers have been tirelessly raising funds from various events throughout the year to help pay for the weekend and have also had help from local council funding to the tune of £3,500.
She adds: “It’s been hard work but all very positive and we are hopeful the event goes down a storm.”
