BOGNOR Regis author Helen Christmas bids to raise money for charity with an event she has organised under the auspices of a network of independent writers.

The ‘Love to Read’ party to raise money for Dyslexia Action, in association with CHINDI, a group of authors in and around Chichester, will be held at the Pallant Suite, South Pallant, Chichester on Friday, November 18.

The event that promises to indulge the senses with a selection of books by local authors, fine wines provided by Hennings and hand crafted chocolates by Noble and Stace.

Helen said:

“We’re excited to welcome Noble and Stace who are offering tastings of their Handcrafted Chocolates, fresh from their dedicated Kitchen in the heart of the South Downs. The chocolates feature local ingredients including truffles made with Chilgrove Gin and, if you want something to go with the chocolate, why not sample some fine wines from Hennings Wine; the family run business is nestled at the top of North Street, in Chichester.”

Christopher Joyce, co-founder of CHINDI explained,

“As authors, Dyslexia Action seems the perfect charity for us to support. One in 10 are estimated to have dyslexia and more than 6.3 million in the UK potentially are affected. Dyslexia affects the ability to learn to read and spell. It involves difficulties in dealing with the sounds of words, which makes it especially hard to learn to use phonics to read words.”

The event runs from 7pm until 10pm with some great gifts on display including signed books by local authors across a range of genres, available to buy just in time for Christmas. Entry is £2 which will go direct to the charity. There will also be an exciting prize draw to raise further funds with champagne, dinner at local restaurants and delicious chocolates included in the prizes.
