Anyone for tennis? Or bowls? Or want to give putting a go? Saturday sees the opening of ISS Lifestyle’s Sports sites across the Arun district ahead of the busy summer season.
Marine Park Gardens, Hotham Park and Blakes Road in Bognor Regis will all open their doors to the public for the first time since September.
Putting will be available at all three of the sites from tomorrow as well as tennis at Blakes Road. Swansea Gardens (tennis and bowls) and Waterloo Square (bowls) will open up later this month.
Most of the football pitches in the district will remain open until the end of April, and for the first time in a number of years a small number will remain open throughout the summer, allowing teams to play pre-season matches.
Justin Simpson, ISS lifestyle manager said: “We get so many enquiries about football pitches for friendlies this summer so we have decided to give the teams what they want.
“It’s always been a bit of a problem for the teams having the pitches open close to the start of the season so hopefully by keeping a couple of pitches open through the summer will mean teams get to play a few more matches than they usually could.”
Also for the first time in many years West Meads will be available for cricket matches this summer, something that ISS Lifestyle have made available for the community since taking over the contract from Inspire Leisure on January 1st this year.
ISS Lifestyle manage and run the outdoor recreation facilities for Arun District Council after winning the council’s greenspace contract last year. That includes over 20 football pitches, 20 tennis courts, five bowling greens, four putting greens, two adventure golf courses and a café.
As well as the sports sites in Bognor Regis, ISS Lifestyle also manage a number of other sites including Maltravers Park (bowls and Tennis), and Norfolk Gardens (adventure golf, tennis, par three golf, café and bowls) in Littlehampton, which will both be open this weekend.
For any parents stuck for ideas for something to do over the half term next week, the grand opening of Buccaneer Bay Adventure Golf at Norfolk Gardens at Littlehampton will take place on Tuesday 11th April after a major refurbishment from ISS.
Kids under 12 dressed as a pirate will receive a free game of adventure golf on the launch day (between 11am-1pm) as well as a free Beechdean Ice Lolly (limited availability) and the chance to meet world famous Jack Sparrow lookalike Simon Newton.
